Section 1：段落結構

1.1 段落的三大部分

只寫「狗是動物」，讀者還不知道你打算談什麼；直接寫狗每天下午幾點玩球，又一下子鑽進細節裡了。段落寫作先練這個取捨：主旨句把方向定下來，支持句接著說明，結論句負責收束。下面這個 Paragraph 架構適合拿來起步，不是每一段都得硬湊三個部分。

1.2 Topic Sentence（主旨句）

主旨句先讓讀者知道這段要談什麼，也留一點空間給後文解釋。例如要談養狗的好處，就別在第一句把玩球的時間、地點全寫完。先提出一個能展開的觀點，細節留給支持句。

範例比較：

1.3 Supporting Sentences（支持句）

主旨句說養狗有好處，讀者自然會接著問：「好在哪裡？」支持句就回答這個問題。你可以舉例、說明原因，或拿兩種情況比較：

用引用來支撐時，要有找得到的來源。不能只在句首放個研究用語，就把自己的猜測變成證據。

1.4 Concluding Sentence（結論句）

結論句把本段談完的內容收起來，不要在這裡突然換新主題。下列開頭可以依意思選用；段落已經收得住，就不必每次都再加一個總結標記。

• Therefore, ...
• All in all, ...
• As a result, ...
• Clearly, ...
• These examples show that ...

1.5 完整段落範例

先看每句在做什麼：養狗的例子依序談活動量、陪伴與社交，最後回到段落主旨。這份範文用具體活動支持論點；如果要加上研究或數字，必須另外找到能查證的來源。

(Topic Sentence) Keeping a dog as a pet can benefit its owner in several ways. (Supporting 1: Physical) First, walking a dog gives the owner a reason to be physically active each day. (Supporting 2: Emotional) Second, dogs provide companionship, which can help owners feel less alone. (Supporting 3: Social) Furthermore, walking a dog can lead to conversations with other people in parks. (Concluding) These everyday activities can bring movement, companionship, and social contact into an owner's life.

Section 2：Writing Exercises with Model Paragraphs

這幾題都練同一件事：主旨句提出的方向，後面的例子有沒有跟上。範文的第一人稱是寫作示範；寫自己的經驗時，請換成真的發生過的細節。

Exercise 1：My Favorite Season

題目： Write a paragraph about your favorite season. Include a topic sentence, at least three supporting sentences, and a concluding sentence. (80-120 words)

寫作提示：

• 主旨句：我最喜歡的季節是秋天
• 支持句 1：天氣舒適
• 支持句 2：楓葉很美
• 支持句 3：可以享受秋天的食物

Model Answer:

Of all the seasons, autumn is by far my favorite. The first reason is the comfortable weather. Unlike the sweltering heat of summer or the biting cold of winter, autumn brings cool breezes and mild temperatures that make spending time outdoors a pleasure. 段落分析：

• Topic Sentence: "Of all the seasons, autumn is by far my favorite."
• Supporting 1: "The first reason is the comfortable weather." (+ details)

• Supporting 3: "Finally, autumn is the season of delicious food." (+ details)

Exercise 2：The Importance of Learning English

題目： Write a paragraph explaining why learning English is important. Include specific reasons and examples. (100-140 words)

寫作提示：

• 主旨句：學英文有哪些實際用途
• 支持句 1：國際溝通
• 支持句 2：學術和研究
• 支持句 3：職業發展

Model Answer:

In today's globalized world, learning English is more important than ever before. The most obvious reason is that English is the international language of communication. Exercise 3：A Memorable Experience

題目： Write a paragraph describing a memorable experience you have had. Use specific details to make the experience come alive. (100-130 words)

寫作提示：

• 主旨句：我最難忘的經歷是去年夏天去海邊
• 支持句 1：看到了美麗的日出
• 支持句 2：嘗試了衝浪
• 支持句 3：和家人共度了美好的時光

Model Answer:

The most memorable experience I have ever had was a trip to the beach with my family last summer. I will never forget waking up at dawn to watch the sunrise. 段落分析：

• Topic Sentence: "The most memorable experience I have ever had was a trip to the beach with my family last summer."
• Supporting 1 (Sunrise): 用感官細節描寫（顏色、聲音）
• Supporting 2 (Surfing): 用具體動作和心理感受描寫
• Supporting 3 (Family time): 點出更深層的意義
• Concluding: "That single day at the beach created memories that I will treasure for the rest of my life."

Section 3：Common Errors and How to Fix Them

3.1 沒有主旨句

下面直接列出喜歡貓的理由，卻沒先交代要談「為什麼比較喜歡貓」。補上這個方向，讀者才知道細節要往哪裡接。

3.2 主旨句太寬泛

3.3 支持句不相關

寫完支持句，回頭對一下主旨句。看電影那句本身沒錯，但它沒有解釋運動為什麼重要，放在這段就岔題了。

3.4 缺乏過渡詞

錯誤： Reading is beneficial. It improves vocabulary. It reduces stress. It helps you learn about the world.

修正（加入過渡詞）： Reading is beneficial for several reasons. First, it improves vocabulary. Second, it reduces stress. Finally, it helps you learn about the world.

3.5 沒有結論句

如果段落停在一個還沒解釋完的細節，讀者會等著你繼續說。本篇練習要求結論句，可以用它接回主旨；不要只是把第一句換幾個字再貼一次。

先對照題目的字數和句數要求，再逐項檢查。這裡的「三個支持句」是本篇練習的設定。

• 是否有明確的主旨句 (Topic Sentence)？
• 是否有至少三個支持句 (Supporting Sentences)？
• 支持句是否直接回應主旨句？
• 是否使用過渡詞 (Transition Words) 連接句子？
• 是否有結論句 (Concluding Sentence)？
• 主謂是否一致 (Subject-Verb Agreement)？
• 時態是否一致 (Tense Consistency)？
• 是否有句子片段或流水句？
• 拼字是否正確？

挑剛寫好的段落，遮住主旨句，只讀支持句：你還看得出它們在談同一件事嗎？如果其中一句接不上，就先移開它。再朗讀一次，看看少了這句之後，理由有沒有更清楚。
